A Few Optimum Frame Synch Patterns

The table below lists various length frame synchronization patterns that are commonly used in PCM and Telemetry receivers. These patterns are "Optimum" in the sense that they provide the best possible false alarm performance against Gaussian Noise for a given pattern length in Baseband PCM systems. These patterns might also be used for PN patterns or codes -- BUT their cross-correlation performance should be checked out before they are used! The best use for these patterns is for Frame Sync Words (or Unique Words) in burst / packet Spread Spectrum Systems.
